The Woodshed Sessions: Elliott New & the Untouchables
Elliott New and the Untouchables Bring Deep Blues to The Woodshed Sessions October 30
An evening of dinner, drinks, artist conversation, and live music benefits the Carolina Blues Preservation Society
CAYCE, S.C. — The Carolina Blues Preservation Society presents Elliott New and the Untouchables as the next featured artists in The Woodshed Sessions on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 7 p.m., at Carolina Arts Café + Studios in the Cayce River Arts District.
Combining blues education with live performance, this fundraiser invites guests to spend an evening with accomplished musicians, learn about their craft, and support the Society’s work to preserve blues traditions and expand opportunities for music education.
Led by guitarist and vocalist Elliott New, the Untouchables bring a sound that draws from gritty Chicago blues, Mississippi Delta traditions, Texas shuffles, and swinging West Coast jump blues. Their music pairs original songwriting with expressive guitar, soulful ensemble playing, and the energy of musicians whose experience reaches across club and festival stages in the United States and abroad.
New’s musical journey began with British blues artists, then deepened after a Muddy Waters recording sparked his connection to the genre. His influences range from Otis Rush and Hound Dog Taylor to T-Bone Walker and Hollywood Fats. His exploration of Delta blues also led him to build electric cigar-box instruments inspired by the diddley bow, bringing their raw slide tones into the band’s original music.
The band’s recording history includes six releases on BluePoint Records, including Bloodhound, an album of original material that showcases the breadth of its blues sound.
The evening unfolds in three acts:
- Act I — Masterclass and Artist Q&A: Meet the featured artists for a conversation about their music, influences, instruments, and creative process, with opportunities for audience questions.
- Act II — Featured Artist Performance: Elliott New and the Untouchables take the stage for a 45-minute set.
- Act III — House Band Performance: The evening continues with a 45-minute set by the house band.
Tickets are $50 for one person or $75 for two and include dinner and drinks.
The Woodshed Sessions creates a space where audiences can hear the music and learn from the people who make it. The October 30 event supports the Carolina Blues Preservation Society’s mission of blues preservation and education, connecting established artists, emerging musicians, and the wider community.

Afterschool Art Club, M-F 330-630 pm

The Afterschool Art Club turns afternoons into creative studio time where kids can unwind, explore, and grow as young artists. Each afternoon begins with snacks and outdoor time, weather permitting, followed by one hour of small-group guided visual arts instruction and one hour of independent studio work.
Along the way, students learn how a real art studio works—maintaining their own workspace and supplies, managing projects from idea to completion, and developing collaboration, leadership, responsibility, and creative problem-solving skills.
Homeschool Art Lab, W-F 11-2 pm
The Homeschool Art Lab at Carolina Arts Café + Studios combines standards-aligned art education with the freedom, independence, and creative energy of working in a professional art studio. Students receive two hours of guided instruction each week in a curriculum encompassing the four major areas of visual arts education: art making, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics.
The program runs for the full academic year, September 1 through May 31, and provides the depth and rigor of one academic visual arts credit. Students have access to the Homeschool Art Lab Wednesday–Friday, 11 AM – 2 PM for guided instruction, plus regular studio hours for independent work, project development, and creative exploration.

Body Benefit brunch for Regina Langston
For Columbia artist Regina Langston, art has long connected people. On Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Carolina Arts Café + Studios invites the community to return to that spirit of connection at a Body Benefit Brunch celebrating her work and supporting her after an unexpected stage four colon cancer diagnosis.
After spending 39 days at Lexington Medical Center, Langston faces a profound health challenge. The gathering in the Cayce River Arts District gives friends, neighbors, fellow artists, and collectors a chance to show their support while celebrating the creativity she has shared with the Midlands.
The event also unveils a solo “body of work” exhibition. Langston’s art features expressive faces, flowing lines, bold outlines, and layered color. Her intuitive approach to painting explores human connection and translates personal experience into striking visual forms.
An artist and longtime educator, Langston earned a bachelor’s degree in art with a minor in psychology from Winthrop University and a master’s degree in divergent learning from Columbia College. She taught art in Richland County Title I elementary schools, helping children discover their own creative possibilities. Her exhibition history includes Richland Library, Trustus Theatre, and the Jasper Project’s gallery programs.
A Spring 2024 Jasper profile by Kristine Hartvigsen documented how encouragement from Columbia’s arts community helped Langston return to painting after the loss of her father and sister. Now, the creative community that helped Regina return to painting can support her through another difficult chapter.
In a February 2025 interview in Red Bank Neighbors, Langston reflected on the generosity of fellow artists: “The fact that other artists help other artists is not a competition.”
The Body Benefit Brunch puts that belief into practice by bringing people together to share a meal, hear Regina speak about her work, and support her by purchasing original art.
Tickets are $25 and include brunch and an artist talk. Each ticket holder may apply the full $25 toward purchasing one of Langston’s artworks. Guests can support Regina while bringing a piece of her creative vision into their own homes.
